EDITORIAL ADIVSORY BOARD (EAB)

With a fervent desire to enhance the links between China and the rest of the world, the first bilingual issue of the China Coatings Journal (CCJ) was published in May 2003.

The appointment of Prof. Long Lin, University of Leeds, UK, as International Editor of the Journal was the next logical step.

And now CCJ proudly announces the formation of an "Editorial Advisory Board", as an intellectual bridge between two differing but mutually supportive worlds.

Over the last decade, China has significantly out-paced the growth rate of its Western counterparts to become the second largest paint producer in the world. Although a significant proportion of China's paint production consists of unsophisticated architectural coatings, there is an increasing demand for high performance coatings, driven by the military requirements, the initiatives in space exploration, the burgeoning building and automotive industry, and the forthcoming Olympic Games in 2008.

As Chairman of the Editorial Advisory Board, it gives me great pleasure to introduce the other members of the Board, who are each world experts in their own fields, with a combined experience in the coatings industry of over 250 years!

We hear a lot these days about interconnectedness in the world. We hear it for the very good reason that the dominant forms of business and cultural life today are truly global. I am confident that the Chinese Coatings industry will benefit strongly from this very commendable venture.
