Sinopec Hunan Petrochemical Co., Ltd. was established by the integration of the former Baling Petrochemical and Changling Refining and ChemicalCo., Ltd. (two of them were personally approvedby Premier Zhou Enlai in the late 1960s). Hunan Petrochemical completed the industrial and commercial registration on June 6, 2023 and officially realized integrated operation on January 1, 2024.

The company has a total of more than 100 sets ofproduction and auxiliary devices, mainly including oil refining, caprolactam - polyamide, thermoplastic elastomer, epoxy resin, propylene oxide, asphalt - carbon materialsetc. Among them, the oil refining and processing capacity is 10 million tons/year,, caprolactam production capacity is 1 million tons/year (including 400,000 tons of Zhejiang Baling Hengyi), thermoplastic elastomercapacity is 800,000 tons/year (including 170,000 tons/year of Hainan Baling, 250,000 tons/year of Shanghai Jinshan Baling), the production capacity of epoxy resin is 300,000 tons/year and propylene oxide is 100,000 tons/year. There are more than 100 main products.

The company attaches great importance to scientific and technological innovation, and has won 27 national awards, which including 1 first prize of National technological invention, 4 first prizes of National Scientific and technological progress, and 1 China Industry Award. It has more than 640 authorized patents, and is rated as China Petrochemical Innovative Enterprise. The production technology of caprolactam, thermoplastic elastomer, epoxy resin, propylene oxide and other production technologies are world-leading and have independent intellectual property rights.

Epoxy resin division of Hunan Petrochemical Company is one of the domestically largest bases for researching, producing and selling epoxy resin. It is also one of the large-scale chemical enterprise in China, integrating the production of caustic soda, chlorine products and epoxy resin.

There are 14 plants, including caustic soda plant with an annual capacity of 100,000tons, allyl chloride plant of 30,000tons, epichlorohydrin plant of 30,000tons, epoxy resin plant of 300,000tons. Its products cover more than 90 varieties of products, such as ionic membrane caustic soda, liquid chlorine, hydrochloric acid, allyl chloride, epichlorohydrin, CYD series epoxy resin, type E series epoxy resin, o-cresol formaldehyde epoxy resin, bisphenol A type phenolic epoxy resin, wind power epoxy resin etc.
